Frankincense

Boswellia carterii · Burseraceae
In one paragraph

Frankincense is not a herb but a resin, tapped from Boswellia trees and distilled. It holds boswellic acids and a range of terpenes, and the aroma is warm, dry and slightly lemony. It has been traded for incense and ointment for several thousand years, which is why it turns up in so many traditional skin preparations.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Frankincense essential oil appears in four Nurtur products, generally in the face oils and the more considered blends, where a small amount changes the whole character of the scent.

Traditional use

Traditionally associated with mature skin and with ritual and stillness. Used here in small proportion, for aroma and for the depth it gives a blend.
