Juniper

Juniperus communis · Cupressaceae
In one paragraph

Juniper is a hardy conifer whose berries — properly cones — give a dry, peppery, resinous oil familiar to anyone who has smelled gin. It is astringent in character and traditionally used where a preparation should feel bracing rather than soothing.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Juniper appears in the Juniper and Pine Recovery Bath Soak, where its dryness balances the softer salts and the pine.

Traditional use

Long used in bathing preparations and in rubs after exertion. Its tradition is one of cleansing and bracing rather than comfort.
