Lavender
Lavandula angustifolia · LamiaceaeIn one paragraph
Lavender is the most recognisable scent in herbal skincare, and one of the few aromatics most people tolerate well. The flowers carry linalool and linalyl acetate, the compounds behind both the scent and its long association with calm. In skincare it is used for its aroma and its gentleness rather than for any single dramatic effect.
How Nurtur Health uses it
Lavender is the most-used aromatic in the range. It is used as flowers infused into oil and as steam-distilled essential oil, depending on whether the point is a soft herbal base or a clear top note.
Traditional use
Traditionally associated with rest and with calming irritated-feeling skin. It is the plant most often reached for when something needs to feel soothing rather than active.
