Orange
Citrus aurantium dulcis · RutaceaeIn one paragraph
Sweet orange oil is cold-pressed from the peel rather than distilled, which keeps it close to the smell of the fresh fruit. It is largely limonene — a light, volatile molecule that evaporates quickly, which is why it reads as a top note and fades first. Citrus peel oils are the group most associated with sun sensitivity, though expressed sweet orange is among the mildest of them.
How Nurtur Health uses it
Orange peel oil is used as a top note in the evening and night blends, where it lifts the heavier resins, roots and butters sitting underneath it.
Traditional use
Orange peel has a long history in perfumery and in the household, valued for a scent widely read as cheering and clean.
