Patchouli

Pogostemon cablin · Lamiaceae
In one paragraph

Patchouli is a soft-leaved member of the mint family, though it smells nothing like mint. The leaves are fermented and distilled to give a thick, dark, earthy oil. It is one of the few essential oils that genuinely improves with age, and it acts as a fixative, slowing the evaporation of lighter notes around it.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Patchouli is used as a base note in the beard and body blends, where the brighter conifer and citrus notes need something to hold them down.

Traditional use

Long used in skin preparations across South and Southeast Asia, and traditionally associated with dry, weathered skin.
