Peppermint
Mentha piperita · LamiaceaeIn one paragraph
Peppermint is a hybrid mint whose oil is dominated by menthol, the compound that triggers the cold receptors in skin and produces a cooling sensation without any change in temperature. It is bright, penetrating and strong enough that proportion matters a great deal.
How Nurtur Health uses it
Peppermint essential oil is used in the Evergreen Lip Balm and the Hands and Feet Rescue Balm, in small proportion, for the cooling effect and the lift it gives.
Traditional use
Traditionally used in rubs for tired feet and aching muscles, where the cooling sensation is the point.
