Rosemary
Rosmarinus officinalis · LamiaceaeIn one paragraph
Rosemary is a woody Mediterranean shrub whose leaves hold rosmarinic acid and carnosic acid, both antioxidants. The scent is sharp, green and camphorous. In oil-based skincare it does double duty: it contributes its own character, and its antioxidants help slow the oxidation of the carrier oil around it.
How Nurtur Health uses it
Rosemary runs through six Nurtur products. It is the leading note in the Rosemary Hair Oil and appears in the hands-and-feet and sore-muscle balms, where its warmth suits the purpose.
Traditional use
Long associated with the scalp and with circulation-stimulating rubs. In folk use it is the herb of alertness, which is why it sits in morning rather than evening formulations.
