Sage
Salvia officinalis · LamiaceaeIn one paragraph
Common sage is a grey-green Mediterranean shrub whose leaves hold rosmarinic acid alongside thujone and camphor. The aroma is herbaceous and slightly medicinal. In skincare it is used in modest proportion, for its clarifying character and its long association with cleansing.
How Nurtur Health uses it
Sage appears in three Nurtur products, including the bath salts, where its camphorous edge suits a soak better than a leave-on oil.
Traditional use
Traditionally used in washes, gargles and steams. Its folk reputation is for cleansing and for drying rather than for softening.
