Sea buckthorn

Hippophae rhamnoides · Elaeagnaceae
In one paragraph

Sea buckthorn is a thorny coastal shrub whose bright orange berries give an oil so deeply pigmented it will stain. It is exceptionally high in carotenoids and in palmitoleic acid, an omega-7 fatty acid uncommon in plants.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Sea buckthorn is used in very small proportion in the face serums, where a few drops colour and enrich the whole blend.

Traditional use

Long used across northern Eurasia for skin exposed to cold and wind.
