Shea

Butyrospermum parkii · Sapotaceae
In one paragraph

Shea butter is pressed from the nut of the West African shea tree. It is solid at room temperature and melts at skin temperature, and it carries an unusually high fraction of unsaponifiables — the components that give it substance and staying power on skin.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Shea gives the Hands and Feet Rescue Balm and the Dog Paw Protector Salve their body. It is what makes a balm hold its shape instead of running like an oil.

Traditional use

Used across West Africa for skin and hair for centuries, and traditionally applied to dry, cracked and weather-exposed skin.
