Calendula Herbal Oil

Calendula officinalis · Herbal infused oils
The short answer

The gentlest thing we make. Choose the olive-oil base for the body, or jojoba for the face and sensitive skin — jojoba is the closest plant oil to skin's own sebum. Calendula-infused, six weeks, three ingredients, no fragrance.

About this one

Calendula flowers are macerated for six weeks in your choice of organic olive oil or organic jojoba. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax, not a triglyceride oil, which is why its structure sits so close to human sebum — the reason it is the first thing we reach for on reactive or easily irritated skin. Olive oil is heavier and suits the body better than the face.

This is a three-ingredient product on purpose: one carrier oil, calendula, and the small measure of alcohol used only during infusion. If your skin flares at fragrance, this is the shortest ingredient list in the range.

In the blend

Organic olive oil (Olea europaea) or organic jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis) — see size/variant
Calendula flower (Calendula officinalis)
A small measure of grain alcohol (infusion process only — not present in the finished oil)

Ingredients

*Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil or *Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil (see variant), Calendula officinalis (Calendula) flower, Ethanol (Alcohol)

*Organic ingredient

Directions

Massage liberally to areas in need. Store away from light. For external use only.

Questions people actually ask

How should I patch-test it?

A pea-sized amount on the inner forearm, twice a day for five days, on the same spot. Reactive skin often responds on day three or four rather than immediately.

Is it safe during pregnancy or for children?

Speak with a qualified practitioner before using herbal products on children, during pregnancy, while nursing, or alongside medication.

Why is it sometimes unavailable?

Every infusion takes six weeks before it can be bottled, so the range moves in batches. Join a waitlist and you will hear the morning it is back.

Cautions

Always patch-test the first time you use a new product. Do not use on open cuts or wounds. Consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

How it is made

Every Nurtur infusion is a six-week cold maceration using the alcohol-intermediary method taught by Master Herbalist Kami McBride.
