Jojoba

Simmondsia chinensis · Simmondsiaceae
In one paragraph

Jojoba is a desert shrub whose seeds give what is chemically a liquid wax ester rather than a triglyceride oil. That distinction matters: wax esters closely resemble human sebum, so jojoba absorbs quickly and does not feel greasy. It is also extremely stable and resists going rancid.

How Nurtur Health uses it

Organic golden jojoba is one of the two most-used carriers in the range, alongside olive oil, chosen wherever the finished oil is meant for the face rather than the body.

Traditional use

A relative newcomer in the European tradition but long used by Indigenous peoples of the Sonoran Desert. Valued for absorbing without residue.
